IRphotonics’ Commercial Infrared Optical Fiber Achieves Strength of 100KPSI

Hamden, Connecticut, January 21, 2009 – IRphotonics, a world leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of Infrared-based materials and systems, announced today it has  produced commercial-grade 125 um infrared fiber that has been rated to 100kpsi strength following  TIA’s (Telecommunications Industry Alliance) standard test method FOTP-28.  This standard calls for the measurement of dynamic strength in tension using a 50cm gauge length, as opposed to the less stringent bending test.

Mid Infrared Fibers’ Low Attenuation Across a Wide Spectral Band Enhances Versatility of Innovative Remote Spectrometers

Hamden, Connecticut, November 10, 2008 - IRphotonics (www.irphotonics.com) , a leading provider of infrared fiber and materials, is pleased to announce that the iGuide™ infrared fiber has been selected as the delivery fiber for the low attenuation infrared fiber in the SIR 3400 recently released by Sandhouse Design (www.sandhousedesign.com) . This is a versatile fiber-based spectrometer that uses innovative technology to measure and provide spectral profiles in the 2,900 to 10,000 cm-1 (1-3.4 um).

The combination of the iGuide™ infrared fiber by IRphotonics and the spectrometer by Sandhouse Design allows the trace detection of molecules whose fundamental vibration energy is in the mid IR range such as CH4, H2S, and HCN for example.
